Saturday musings...

Wednesday prompted a very strange series of events for me. I went out for a girl's night with Amy and some of her friends. Despite the fact that I was sorta the odd man out I had a good time. I spent more time laughing and talking then wondering what to say. Normally that type of situation would have sent me into panic mode but it didn't this time which was surprising. I realized that I miss having girl time. I miss spending time with friends and just being silly. Most of the time that I do see my closest friends it's been such a long time that all we do is catch up instead of really enjoying each other's company.

Thursday I decided to finally go through a box of stuff I found underneath our bed. It was filled to the brim with letters/postcards/newpaper clipings... all kinds of random things. I found what I think used to be receipts but were so degraded that they just looked like blank pieces of paper. I found old journals I kept during my travels overseas. Seeing all the letters from long lost friends, the journal entries about boys I met while traveling. It felt a little overwhelming. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try and stalk these people on Facebook. After I found 3 girls I met about 10 years ago through Girl Scouts and 2 other people I met through an International Camp about 12 years ago I grew tired of stalking. I sent out invites kinda afraid they wouldn't remember me. Miraculously though they remembered me and seemed genuinly happy to be back in contact. It was really kinda neat. And to think I didn't even want a Facebook account...

Husband and I went out for dinner tonight. An ex-co-worker from the bank also works at Chili's on the weekends. She called last night to let me know she was working that way we could meet up. It was so lovely to see her again. Since she was working a pretty small section and it wasn't too busy we got to chat for quite some time.

Now there's the small problem(s) that the oil pump on my car might be bad and that the radiator on Husband's vehical is cracked. blah, blah, blah

Oh and not to mention that one or more of my dogs is possibly leaking fluid from their private parts.

And let us not forget, Husband now thinks we need to get a gun and keep it in the house. Obviously he doesn't know me well enough if he thinks that's a good idea.

That's all for now.

Argh!

I hate AT&T. Hate. My e-mail account's spam guard has gone overboard and is eating everything. My spam box is always empty though which means I don't know what it's eating. Hate. Now I'm left wondering if possible job opportunities were sent to spam because AT&T's spam guard is badly designed. Hate. I'm seething. Therefore all important e-mails are in the process of being re-routed to Gmail. What a pain. That's my rant for the day.

Wii Fit, a Lesson in Pain

I *heart* Nintendo, I really do. I've never been a "real" gamer (i.e. I'm not talented at blowing up things and I have a phenomenally short attention span) so maybe that's why they appeal to me over Xbox or Playstation. Needless to say I'm probably the type of person they had in mind when they designed the Wii. So I was curious when I first heard the rumblings about Wii Fit. I wasn't sure how they would integrate fitness/healthy lifestyle into gaming as normally those two do not go hand in hand. But so far... I think it works.

Husband desperately wanted it so I was put on the task of tracking it down. I drove to Best Buy yesterday morning. It was 10:30 and they were already sold out (They open at 10 for crying out loud). Needless to say it didn't help my feelings of malcontent I have with that company. I called Target. Sold out. Finally I called a Wal-Mart (I know) that is slightly out of the major Tulsa area and *gasp* they still had it in stock. So I made my purchase and came home. (Hour and a half later)

  • My first praise goes to the fact that most of the activities are just plain fun. Hula Hooping and Tight Rope Walking? Fantastic!
  • My second praise goes to the fact that they have a good solid selection of yoga poses and tips on what exercises to combine to be most beneficial.
  • Thirdly I love the personal trainers. They are encouraging and funny when you slack off (or quit mid-rep in my case).
  • Lastly I love the fact that I feel just as sore and worn out from doing 30 minutes of this versus driving to the gym, staring at a bunch of sweaty people and touching a bunch of germy equipment.

Wii Fit is big on balancing and posture (I suppose now I realize though that those go hand in hand). They have a whole section of just balancing activities (which I suck at btw) I like that a lot of the commentary during the yoga exercises centers around stretching your spine. All in all though I can tell a difference in my posture already. It really shocks me quite honestly.

I wasn't sure I'd like this to be honest but now I'm kinda addicted. And for a lazy, uncoordinated, self-confessed couch potato to love it... well you know that's gotta be saying something.

4 years

Happy anniversary to the man who knows all my dirty little secrets but loves me anyway.

First time for everything

Yesterday, with exactly 2 months till my 26th birthday... they tell me I have my first cavitiy.
Sadly enough I nearly burst into tears in the dentist chair.
Husband laughed at me for being so upset.
I'm not pleased.

Doesn't play well with others...

I was forced to go to the Renaissance Fair yesterday.
I got forced on stage by this guy. His name: Bob the Juggler.
Husband was afraid I would go homicidal. He knows I don't always play well with others.
Let me say it again: I did NOT volunteer. He pulled me on stage while Husband and his brother laughed hysterically.
I'm positive a very vulgar string of phrases followed me onto the stage.

I have this rule about being touched by complete strangers. I don't like it. He violated my personal bubble and I was less then thrilled. I really hate being the center of attention let alone being humiliated in front of total strangers.

Now I have a tomato colored face and a stiff neck. Thanks Renaissance Fair. Thanks a lot.

If you want to see my public humiliation caught on film visit my b.i.l's flickr page. I'm too lazy to load it all over here.

Top Ten Tuesday...

My top 10 excuses as to why I haven't blogged:

10. I lost my glasses during a recent visit to OKC and subsequently looking at the computer screen made me dizzy. Eyemart Express was able to remedy the situation for me yesterday afternoon.
9. I was completely and totally engrossed in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I read approx 1500 pages in 4 days.
8. I was finally given health insurance by the military and have been trying to get caught up on missed health-type visits.
7. I have felt un-inspired.
6. Husband ran out of clean underwear and I had to do laundry.
5. I've had raging migraines thanks to no glasses.
4. Been catching up on movies thanks to my youngest bro-in-laws Netflix account.
3. I've been getting my ass kicked on Mario Kart Wii by a bunch of Japanese guys... My ego has yet to recover.
2. I've been drinking a lot of starbucks and watching Dharma and Greg reruns.
1. My desktop has lost its mind and the laptop is having internet issues.
